Cooking with Daddy

Hello, I'm Charlotte (Zach's mum)

I have a pet annoyance!  The more I look in cookery books, especially ones for children’s recipes, I find myself wondering 'where are all the men?!!'.

Now I’ve got to be honest, I do slightly fall for the photos in the recipe books of fabulous mums; smiling, clean, well behaved children tucking into something healthy.  However it doesn’t exactly reflect my life and I’m certain that I’m not alone.

In our household, when we have dinner, it generally involves lots of mess, Zach standing up or running around and my hopeless attempts to persuade him to try something new or different…..unless his daddy is there.  The magic ingredient is Zach's daddy.  Maybe it’s because Zach doesn’t see him as much as he sees me; maybe it's because he's a boy or maybe it's because he is generally more laid back than I am.  However, if Zach's daddy is there, Zach will eat anything and if cooking is involved then that’s even more exciting.

So here for all the men out there is my attempt to represent men (how odd!!) and to say ‘yes men cook, yes they cook with their children and yes they even love it!’.

Here is a photo of the process of Zach and his daddy making dinner one rainy weekend (I think the lack of trousers helps the process!).  I had to leave shortly after this was taken due to the kitchen chaos!!

Love

Charlotte x
